Background: I have an Associates Degree in Graphic Design and a Bachelors in Management both from Southern Illinois University. I worked for eight years in print and web graphics before returning to school, again at Southern Illinois University, for a Bachelors in Elementary Education.
Shortly after completing that degree, I came to Texas where I started working at Forney ISD as a sub, then as a long-term sub and finally as a Graphic Design/Business Teacher and Assistant Softball Coach. I now come to Kemp ISD as the Instructional Technology Coordinator. Among other things, I am here to assist teacher and staff with their technology needs as it relates to software and online applications and applying them to curriculum. I am also tasked with textbook coordination and teacher training.
I am married to my best friend and husband of 23 years and together we have two beautiful children. Katia, 16, and Gabriel, 14. My personal interests are activities my kids are involved in, a good softball game, and gardening (not as much in the Texas heat).
Thoughts: Today's students may be working in jobs that don't even exist today and using technology that changes so fast, it may not have even been thought of yet. We must train them for their future without knowing what jobs they'll hold. There's no doubt that technology will be a key element, but it's only a tool. It can't do the thinking without the programmers. What are we programming our kids to do? ...
