New Assistant Principal - Dr. Valayne May

Valayne May is originally from Gilbert, Arizona - which was a small town very much like Kemp. She is the mother of five children and started her academic career after raising her family. Valayne earned her bachelor’s degree in English Literature from The University of Maryland at College Park. She went on to participate in a program where she interned in Montgomery County Schools while earning a Master’s degree.


She moved to Flower Mound, Texas where she enrolled in a doctoral program and earned her Ph. D. while teaching at a middle school in the Lewisville school district. Dr. May has 12 years of teaching experience in secondary public schools. She has served on several district committees including curriculum writing. She has been a presenter of her research and using technology in the classroom.


Dr. May enjoys reading, writing, and graphic design in her free time. She loves spending time with her children and grandchildren and sitting on the beach reading when she can.
