COVID District Protocols

2021/2022 COVID Protocols for Kemp ISD

NOTIFICATION

  • Notification of any school-related positive cases will be posted on the district website under the COVID DASHBOARD tab.

PREVENTION

  • Staff will be required to self-screen for COVID symptoms prior to reporting to work each day and should report any symptoms to the campus nurse.

  • Parents/guardians are expected to screen their students for COVID symptoms each day prior to sending their student to school.

  • Teachers will monitor students in the classroom and refer them to the nurse when appropriate.

  • Masks - Though not required at this time, students and staff may voluntarily wear a mask at any time.  Campuses will provide masks when available.

RESPONSE

  • If you test POSITIVE for COVID, you may return to campus in 5 days from the date of the test as long as you have NO SYMPTOMS.  It is beneficial to those around you for you to wear a mask for the next 5 days while on campus.
  • Any siblings in the home will be required to quarantine for 5 days and they must have no symptoms in order to return to school. If symptoms are still present, you are asked to contact your campus nurse daily for further instruction.

  • Staff that might have been exposed to a positive individual and remain asymptomatic may continue to work as long as they can wear a mask, social distance and test negative at nurses discretion.

  • Students or staff who have been in close contact with a confirmed case may be asked to self quarantine.  Close contact is defined as being within 6 feet of a COVID positive person for a cumulative total of 15 minutes or more without the use of a mask.

REDUCING POTENTIAL SPREAD IN SCHOOL

  • Traditional cleaning protocols will be increased in high traffic areas and in areas with a confirmed COVID case.
  • Hand sanitizer will continue to be available throughout the district.
  • Handwashing will continue to be strongly encouraged.
  • Cleaning supplies will be provided for all staff for use in the classroom.

TESTING

  • We will continue on-site rapid testing with BinaxNOW or GenBody for any staff or student member that requests it.  Parents must consent to student testing.
